Hagen Resources International of Geneva (HRI), and International
Business-Government Counsellors of Washington (IBC), have joined
together to establish a new program to help respond to global challenges
and opportunities facing the international business community.
The program is designed to bring business together with the many
institutions and international organizations based in Geneva and
elsewhere in Europe that directly affect the commercial and regulatory
environment for international business. Geneva and other capitals of Europe are the meeting places of many of the
organizations and people that deliberate over global issues concerning
trade, finance, investment, intellectual property rights, health, labor,
human rights, and international standards.
Increasingly, these deliberations are impacting the way business
is able to operate – both globally, where they set the policies for
global operations, and nationally, where national governments
increasingly apply internationally developed standards for the
regulation of their own economies and societies.
These are organizations that are having significant immediate and
long-term impact on corporate profitability and on risk management and
strategic planning.
The new Council
for Multilateral Business Diplomacy, based in Geneva,
Switzerland, provides companies with important opportunities for
engaging with key international decision-makers on global developments
and issues of mutual concern. The Council provides its
members with timely information, networking opportunities, access to
leadership in the international organizations, settings for conveying
business views, and insights into the inner workings of international
diplomacy. The
Council is not an advocacy organization but does help companies
track key issues as they are debated, processed and implemented through
the organizations that address them. The value of the Council
for Multilateral Business Diplomacy program is broad.
The Council
provides an informal, non-adversarial and neutral space for
business discussion, networking and, most of all, engagement, with the
international organizations that are having an impact on global business
operations. The Council
also provides opportunities for businesses to engage directly
with key officials in the international organizations, and vice
versa. For more information on Council membership and its planned schedule of events, please visit www.cmbd.ch
